This iconic photograph by Moholy-Nagy shows his experimentation with purely formal aspects such as birds-eye view and strong diagonal lines emulating many of his paintings.\n\nThe legacy of Hungarian artist Laszlo Moholy-Nagy is among the most cherished in the lineage of photographic art, and he can be defined as a visionary whose radical experiments with photography entirely re-imagined the possibilities for the medium. Working in the early 20th century when photography was not considered a form of high art, Moholy-Nagy actively sought to break down boundaries and find new languages of photographic discourse. In doing so, he left behind an oeuvre of visual ideas that have provided artistic license to a century’s worth of photographers to experiment boldly beyond the conventional definitions of what photography is expected to be.\n\nEdition: 1 of 1","attributes":[{"trait_type":"Artist","value":"László Moholy-Nagy"},{"trait_type":"Year","value":"ca. 1930"},{"trait_type":"Property","value":"Exterior"},{"trait_type":"Property","value":"Men and women"},{"trait_type":"Number of characters","value":"3"},{"trait_type":"Capture Medium","value":"Ernemann camera"},{"trait_type":"Print Edition","value":"Unique"},{"trait_type":"Museum Collection","value":"The Met"},{"trait_type":"Exhibition history","value":"The Metropolitan Museum of Art. \"The New Vision: Photography between the World Wars.
